What is Artificial Intelligence?
According to the Larousse Dictionary, “Artificial Intelligence (AI) aims to replicate at best, with the help of machines, mental activities, whether they are related to comprehension, perception or decision.”[1] Thus, in our video surveillance context, AI is used in all the ways mentioned in this description to optimise the results for our clients, as described in the following article.
How we are different from our competitors
Our video surveillance Central is equipped with an AI system that has been personalised by Gardium Technologies. Our system instantly analyses images transmitted to our central by the cameras installed on our clients’ properties, and evaluates what it sees. It is configurated to detect movements caused by big objects, i.e., humans, vehicles, etc., and by doing this, ignores what it assesses has being harmless, such as small stray animals.
Unlike our competitors, whose operators need to intentionally look at every individual camera feed, AI is able to scan all the cameras at the same time and continuously, which reduces the potential to miss an event because the human eye was occupied on another feed.
Furthermore, the amount of alarms triggered being smaller because of the AI precision, it creates non-negligible free time for our security agents who works at our central. In this way, the delays to react to an alarm are considerably reduced, and the time spent doing interventions can be optimised to act on actual problems in real time.
The advantage of audio systems
When AI is used together with equipment that have an audio functionality, it creates the opportunity to have the best intervention capacity in real time. Thereby, once the alarm has been generated at our central, the agents have the ability to evaluate the current situation, and if needed, to intervene directly on site with the help of the speakers. Depending on the type of the location or company, those interventions can go many different ways. For example, it can be in the form of a warning, letting the intruders know the are on a private property, and need to vacate the premises immediately. It is also a possibility that some people are preauthorised to access the site by the client, in which case our agents will confirm their identities. In all instances, everything will be detailed in an intervention report that will be sent to the client in the moments following the end of the intervention, ensuring the clients are aware of any and every event that happened on their properties as time goes by.
From observation to reaction
Whereas until recently, video surveillance cameras’ only purpose was to rewatch the events once they were over, we now offer you the possibility to be proactive in the surveillance of your assets. Our specialised security agents, combined with our AI system and our wide variety of equipment, now gives you the opportunity to ensure a quick reaction time to protect your locations, which will in turn offer you piece of mind when you are not on site.
